FA’s must pay US$20,000 for CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup
All Federations that have entered teams for the 2019 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup must pay US$20,000 to the hosts Federation of Uganda Football Associations (Fufa).
CECAFA members last year decided in a meeting that all teams that will be taking part in the Senior Challenge Cup should pay US$20,000.
In a letter sent by the Uganda FA Chief Executive Officer, Edgar Watson Suubi, he has warned that all teams intending to travel for the tournament must first pay. This money is meant to help Uganda with the logistical arrangements which includes transport, accommodation, meals for teams and tournament officials.
“We have noticed that some national teams are preparing to travel to Uganda as early as possible. This is to request you to inform national teams intending to travel to Uganda that they should arrange traveling after they have confirmed participation with payment of the US$20,000 fees and the matter of hosting fully resolved,” said Watson’s letter sent through the CECAFA secretariat.
“We request that you advise the CECAFA member Associations not to travel to Uganda until this matter is resolved to conclusion,” said the communication.
The regional tournament that bring together national teams will take place December 7-19th in Kampala. The teams that entered and have been drawn include; Zanzibar, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia and guest side DR Congo.
