ZFF mourns former long serving President Ferej Tamim
The Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) is mourning it’s former President Ali Ferej Tamim who died on Tuesday morning
Tamim, a veteran sports official who led ZFF for over 10 years and was former Vice President of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) passed away at the Mnazi Mmoja General Hospital in Zanzibar.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Mr Ali Ferej Tamim, former President of Zanzibar Football Association (ZFA). All our thought and prayers with him, relatives and all football family. He will be truly missed Innaa Lilllah Wainnaa Ilayhi,” stated a communication from ZFF.
The late Ferej Tamim was laid to rest at Mwanakwerekwe Cemetery in Unguja this afternoon.
He will be remembered as being one of the athletes who made a significant contribution to football especially in Zanzibar.
The late Ferej Tamim also took great efforts in his leadership to ensure Zanzibar is granted membership of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as well as to ensure the Zanzibar Premier League gets sponsorship and gives space to smaller clubs.
