Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup kicks off in Uganda today
The regional Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup will kick-off in Uganda on Saturday.
Action will start with a Group A match between Sudan and Djibouti at the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu (337km out of Kampala).
Later two games Uganda against Eritrea will take centre stage in Group A and a Group C match between Burundi and South Sudan at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru.
The Zanzibar team arrived in Uganda on Friday and straight away traveled to their base in Jinja town. Zanzibar will open their campaign with a game against Kenya on Sunday, the same day Ethiopia take on Tanzania.
Nicholas Musonye, the secretary General said on Friday that they are happy with the facilities and ready to witness good football on the pitch.
“These youth football tournaments will continue to help our youngsters develop better because they are the stars of tomorrow,” added Musonye.
The tournament sponsored by FIFA has attracted 11 teams excluding Rwanda who have a busy schedule.
