Zanzibar take on Kenya in Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup
The Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup enters Day 2 on Sunday in the towns Njeru and Gulu.
Zanzibar will play their first Group B match against Kenya starting at 4pm at the FUFA Technical center Stadium in Njeru. The earlier match in the same group will see Ethiopia battle Tanzania.
Kenya’s coach Stanley Okumbi has already warned that facing Zanzibar will not be an easy task because he knows they have good youth teams.
The regional tournament supported by FIFA started on Saturday with three matches on card.
Sudan thumped Djibouti 4-0 in the opening Group A match played at the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu. Abbas Mohamed gave Sudan a 1-0 first half lead. After recess Ali Albager Eljamri, Yaser Ammar Aboalqassem and Musab Kurdman Elsiddiq added more goals for Sudan.
In the second Group A match Eritrea fought from a goal down to hold hosts Uganda to a 1-1 draw. Ivan Bogere netted for Uganda Hippos, while Yosief Tesfai Mewael leveled matters for Eritrea in the second half.
The only Group C game saw Burundi also fight back to hold South Sudan 3-3. Dani Lual Gumnok netted a hat-trick for South Sudan, while Burundi scored through Yassin Dushime, Karim Niyonkuru (penalty) and Hamimu Hakizimana.
