CECAFA U-20 CHALLENGE CUP: Zanzibar stop Ethiopia 2-1
Zanzibar needed a late Khalid Shaban Mbarouk goal to defeat Ethiopia 2-1 in their second Group B game at the on-going Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup in Uganda on Tuesday.
After a disappointing 5-0 thrashing by Kenya in the opening game, coach Nasor Sawm Mohamad made a tactical switch against Ethiopia that worked wonders.

Saadam Makame Mohamad gave Zanzibar a 1-0 lead at half time before Abebayehu Hajiso leveled for Ethiopia five minutes into the second half.
The Ethiopian team continued to press Zanzibar in their own half and missed several scoring opportunities. But Zanzibar’s goalkeeper Ahmed Ali Hamdu also kept them in the game with several saves. It was off the rebound that Mbarouk capitalised on a rebound that he netted the winning goal for Zanzibar.
It was all celebrations after the final whistle. “We are happy to get this win before we play our brothers Tanzania in the last group game on Thursday. We are determined to qualify for the quarter finals,” said Zanzibar’s assistant coach Ibrahim Mohamad.
Yosef Tesfaye, Ethiopia’s coach was a disappointed man. “We should have won this game but my players were in a hurry to score and defended poorly as well,” he said.
