Do-or-die as Zanzibar’s U-20 team faces Ethiopia in Njeru
Zanzibar will face Ethiopia in their second Group B tie at the on-going Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup in Uganda.
The two sides lost their opening games with Zanzibar falling 5-0 to Kenya and Ethiopia suffering a 4-0 defeat to Tanzania.
But the match today at the Fufa Technical Center in Njeru promises to be a tough contest with Zanzibar determined to get a good result.
Although Zanzibar will miss the services of skipper Mustapha Muhsin Juma who was sent of in the game against Kenya, the head coach Nasor Sawm Mohamad says his team is prepared for the game.
“We have rectified the mistakes we had in the opening match. The boys are determined to get a good result against Ethiopia to improve our chances of making it to the next stage of the tournament,” added Coach Mohamad.
The coach will hope that his attacking players Yussuf Nassor Mwinyi, Fahim Rajab Mussa and Dominicus Kuhanga find their scoring form. The second Group B game will see Tanzania take on Kenya.
Already Sudan and Uganda have qualified for the quarter final stage from Group A, while Burundi beat Somalia 2-1 on Monday to also book a place in the knock out stage.
On Monday Sudan and Eritrea settled for a 3-al draw, while Uganda humbled Djibouti 5-1.
