Cecafa shift focus to Women’s Championship in Tanzania
The Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) has shifted focus on the 2019 Cecafa Women’s Championship to take place in Tanzania next month.
Nicholas Musonye, the Cecafa Secretary general has made it clear that the tournament will take place November 14-28th in Dar es Salaam.
“I am happy that we successfully had the Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup in Uganda and now focus turns to the Women’s Championship,” added Musonye.
Last weekend Tanzania emerged champions of the FIFA sponsored Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup after a 1-0 win over Kenya in Njeru, Uganda.
Musonye said they will also have the Cecafa U-17 Girls Championship and the Senior Challenge Cup take place in Uganda in December to wrap up the year.
Musonye advised football federations in the region to have good relationships with their governments that play a big role in sports development.
“All Federations in the region must cultivate good working relationships with their governments because they have the capacity to inject a lot of finances in football,” he added.
