Mwenge FC, Zimamoto win

Zimamoto Sports Club and Mwenge FC picked maximum points in 2019/2020 Zanzibar Premier League matches played on Thursday.

Mwenge FC moved to ninth place with nine points, while Chipukizi remained glued to the bottom of the log with two points and no win registered.

Fresh from suffering their first defeat last week Zimamoto fought from a goal down to win at the Amaan Stadium. Mafunzo FC took the lead after 25 minutes with a Jaku Joma goal.

But after good half time talk Zimamoto SC returned and put their act together to score two goals. Yussuf Ramadhan pulled leveled matters fives minutes after the break before Haruna Abdalla Jabir Boban made it 2-1 after 55 minutes.

The win takes Zimamoto back top of the log with 22 points, while KMKM SC are second on 20 points and JKU third with 18 points.

On Friday KMKM could return to the top if they stop Polisi FC at the Mao Stadium. Machomane FC will also be in action against Mlandege at the Gombani Stadium, while Malindi SC face KVZ FC at the Amaan Stadium.
