Zanzibar Queens play last game in 2019 Cecafa Women Challenge Cup
The Zanzibar Queens will this afternoon face hosts Tanzania in their last Group A match at the on-going 2019 Cecafa Senior Women’s Challenge Cup.
But before the Queens take to the pitch at the Chamazi Stadium, Burundi will face South Sudan as the two teams chase for the remaining one semi final slot.
Zanzibar’s head coach Mohd Ali Salah says every game against Tanzania be it for the men or women is always explosive. “We are here to get the exposure because we have a young team that needs to get experience,” added Salah.
Team captain Abdallah Mwajuma said although they have already lost two matches, they will give their best against the defending champions Tanzania. “We are happy to be playing at this tournament because we are getting the exposure,” she added.
The Queens started the tournament with a 5-0 loss to Burundi before they suffered another 5-0 loss to debut making South Sudan.
Already Tanzania, Kenya Starlets and Uganda Crested Cranes have qualified for the semi finals. The tournament will climax on November 25th with the play-off for third place and the final.
