Simba SC’s coach Vanderbroeck targets 2020 Mapinduzi Cup
Head coach of Tanzania Premier League side, Simba SC has vowed that they must play beautiful football to win the the 2020 Mapinduzi Cup.
The tournament hosted by the government of Zanzibar takes place January 6-13th in Unguja and Pemba.
Sven Vanderbroeck made it clear in Dar es Salaam that the tournament will help his players prepare well for the remaining matches of the League.
“We do not just want to participate, but to win the trophy. But we want to play good beautiful football in the tournament,” added the Swedish born coach.
Simba SC will look to some of their newly signed players like Francis Kahata, the Kenyan international who also featured at the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations and marksman Meddie Kagere.
Vanderbroeck’s team will start their campaign against Zanzibar’s Zimamato Sc on January 7th. Simba are placed in Group B alongside Zimamoto SC, Mtibwa FC and Chipukizi SC.
Group B has defending champions Azam FC, Mlandege SC, Jamhuri SC and Young Africans FC.
The finals of the annual tournament that will attract eight teams will be played on January 13th.
