Giants Simba SC face Mtibwa in 2020 Mapinduzi Cup final
The Vodacom Tanzania Premeir League sides Simba Sports Club and Mtibwa Sugar FC will this evening clash in the final of the 2020 Mapinduzi Cup at the Amaan Stadium.
To reach the final Simba ejected defending champions Azam FC 3-2 on penalty shoot outs, while Mtibwa Sugar FC saw off Young African FC 4-2 on penalty shootouts.
John Bocco, the Simba SC captain has said the final today means a lot for them since they have not won this trophy for some time now. “Winning this trophy means a lot and also gives us good momentum as we are top of the League,” added Bocco.
Francis Kahata, the Kenyan International who joined Simba SC late last year said facing Mtibwa Sugar in a final will not be an easy task. “They eliminated Yanga and are therefore not an easy team,” added Kahata.
Mtibwa coach Zuberi Katwila said he is confident his boys have what it takes to win the trophy. “This is a Cup final and we must take our chances,” added the coach.
The tournament that attracted eight teams and organized under the government of Zanzibar through the Ministry of Youth, Arts and Culture will climax with the final to be played on January 13th.
Teams from Tanzania that took part in the tournament include; Yanga SC, Azam FC, Simba SC and Mtibwa Sugar FC, while Mlandege SC, Jamhuri SC, Chipukizi FC and Zimamoto SC are from Zanzibar.
