Gacheo takes over as CECAFA Executive Director
Kenya’s John Auka Gacheo has today taken over as the new Executive Director of the Council of East and central African Football Associations (CECAFA).
The out-going Secretary General, Nicholas Musonye handed over to Gacheo during a ceremony graced in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Wallace Karia, CECAFA and Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President also graced the ceremony at the TFF headquarters.
Gacheo has worked around football for a very long time and I am confident he has what it takes to steer CECAFA to the next level,” said Musonye.
Gacheo is a former SuperSport East Africa General Manager. The post of executive director was created after the CECAFA Status was amended after advice from the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).
Musonye had served in CECAFA for the last 21 years.
This year CECAFA will have nine tournaments spread around the season including two CAF youth qualifying tournaments.
