Gov’t clears Zanzibar Premier League to Resume after June 5th
The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has given clearance for the 2019/2020 Zanzibar Premier League to resume after a halt due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Hon. Seif Ali Iddi, the Second Vice President of Zanzibar in his public statement today has instructed the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) to provide clear Strategies on how they will facilitate completion of the league on matter such as Health, modality and finances.
He made it clear that ZFF has been allowed to resume the Premier League anytime after June 5th. The Second Vice President made it clear that permission is for only Premier League, while other lower tier Leagues still will also need to seek government approval.
The Zanzibar Premier League was suspended in the later part of March this year after advise of the government because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
The executive Committee under ZFF President Seif Kombo Pandu is expected to meet officials of Premier League Clubs on June 3rd to map a strategic away forward.
KMKM, JKU and Zimamoto are fighting neck to neck in the 16-team Zanzibar Premier League.
