Amaan Stadium finally undergoing artificial pitch replacement
Pitch maintenance at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar has finally started.
The old artificial pitch that is used for football match and other government ceremonies has been in poor state.
“We are happy that the playing surface at the Stadium is being replaced. This is a very good development and this will help our teams to play football better,” said Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) President, Seif Kombo Pandu.
The artificial pitch replacement at the 15,000 spectator capacity stadium is financed by Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar will run for an estimate of two months.
The Amaan Stadium has been the main ground hosting the Zanzibar Premier League games. The League has been on recess since late March since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Besides Amaan Stadium, the 20,000 spectator Gombani Stadium is the second mostly used in Zanzibar.
