Mlandege FC suffer 3-1 defeat to Vodacom Tanzania League champions Simba

Zanzibar Premier League champions put up a spirited fight but lost 3-1 to Simba Sports Club in an international friendly match played at the Azam Chamazi Complex in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

In-form striker Chris Mugalu netted for the Vodacom Tanzania Premier League champions in each half, while Ibrahim Ame netted the other goal.

Mugalu gave the Mlandege FC defenders no chance as he scored after 8 minutes. Ibrahim Ame increased the lead after 16 minutes to hand the giants a 2-0 half time lead.

The Mlandege strikers tried to press hard to get a goal, but showed were not sharp enough. Mugalu netted his second goal after 67 minutes before Haji Yahaya Kalua scored a consolation goal for Mlandege FC after 85 minutes.

“I am happy to score against Simba SC and this was a goal build-up for us,” said Mlandege’s scorer Kalua after the game.

Simba’s coach Sven Vandenbroeck said he was also happy that he gave a number of players’ chance to play. “This was a good friendly ahead of next League match against Tanzania Prisons,” said the coach.

Mlandege FC who also lost 2-0 to Young Africa SC in another international friendly last month in Dare es Salaam are using the build-up games to prepare for the 2020/2021 Premier League and the CAF Champions League.
