Feisal Salum scores to help Taifa Stars pick vital point against Tunisia
Substitute Feisal Salum Abdallah netted a vital goal to help Taifa Stars pick a 1-1 draw against Tunisia in a Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier match played last night in Dar Salaam.
Salum who replaced Hamid Mao Mkami after 36 minutes finished off with a hard shot to make it 1-1 in the 47th minute at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Saif Eddine Khaoui who plys his trade with Marseille in France gave Tunisia the lead after 11 minutes. But Salum who also features for Zanzibar’s national team under the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) Senior Challenge Cup made the difference for Taifa Stars.
Taifa Stars are third in Group J of the qualifiers with 4 points, while Tunisia who have already qualified are top on 10 points, while Equatorial Guinea have 6 points and Libya are bottom with 3 points. Taifa Stars stand chances of qualifying for a straight Afcon competition if their remaining two games against Equatorial Guinea in Dar es salaam next March and an away game against Libya.
