Zanzibar President Ali Mwinyi supports Mlandege FC to travel to Tunisia

The Zanzibar Premier League reigning champions Mlandege FC have received a financial boost from the President of Zanzibar to help them travel to Tunisia for a Total CAF Champions League Preliminary round match.

On Wednesday the President of Zanzibar and the chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi supported the team with a financial boost.

Mlandege FC who lost the first leg 5-0 against Club Sportif Sfaxien will face the Tunisia side in the return leg on December 5th at the Stade Tareb Mhiri in Sfax.

Abdul Mutik Haji, Mlandege’s head coach said although they lost the first leg at home, the team is determined to give a good account in the away game. “We know what to do against the Tunisian team and will work hard to put up a very good show as our players also get the international exposure,” added the coach.

While Mlandege will battle away in Tunisia tomorrow, another Zanzibar side KVZ will host Sudan’s El Amal Atbara at the Amaan Stadium on the same day in the return leg of the CAf Confederation Cup. KVZ lost the first round 1-0.
