Yanga SC coach Kaze happy to be part of 2021 Mapinduzi Cup
The head coach of Young Africans (Yanga SC), Cedric Kaze has said playing in the 2021 Mapinduzi Cup will help his team a lot get lots of match practice getting into the new year stretch.
Yanga is one of the nine teams that will participate in the 2021 Mapinduzi Cup slated for January 5-13th in Zanzibar.
“We shall definitely go all out to try and win the Mapinduzi Cup. But the tournament will also help our team prepare well ahead of several matches lined up in the League and knock out tournament,” added the coach.
Kaze’s team who currently lead the Vodacom Tanzania Premier League table will open their campaign in the 2021 Mapinduzi Cup against Jamhuri FC on January 5th at the Amaan Stadium.
Yanga SC will also face a tough test against another Tanzania Mainland side Namungo FC in Group A if they hope to make it to the knock out stage of the tournament organized by the government of Zanzibar.
The reigning champions of the Mapinduzi Cup Mtibwa Sugar are placed in Group B alongside Simba SC and Chipukuzi FC, while Azam FC will battle Malindi FC and Zanzibar Premier League champions Mlandege in Group C.
The semi-finals of the tournament will be played on January 11th, while the final and play-off for third place will be played two days after.
Group A: Yanga, Namungo, Jamhuri
Group B: Simba SC, Mtibwa, Chipukuzi
Group C: Azam, Malindi, Mlandege
