2021 MAPINDUZI CUP: Mlandege fight back to hold Azam FC

Zanzibar Premier League reigning League champions Mlandege FC scored late to force Azam FC to a 1-1 draw in a Group C match at the on-going 2021 Mapinduzi Cup on Thursday night at the Amaan Stadium.

With two minutes left Rashid Mandawa netted for Mlandege FC hand them a second draw in the tournament.

Debut making Congolese striker Mopiana Mozizi scored early for Azam FC in the first half. Azam FC head coach George Lwandamina said although they did not win the game, he is happy the team battled well. “We shall keep improving in every game,” added the Zambian coach.

Mlandege now lead Group C with 2 points after they registered a goalless draw against another Zanzibar Premier League side Malindi FC on Wednesday.

Action continues on Friday with Vodacom Tanzania Premier League reigning champions Simba SC facing Chipukuzi FC, while Young Africans take on Namungo FC.

The Mapinduzi Cup is among the major activities carried out nationwide to mark the 57th anniversary of Zanzibar revolution.
