Zanzibar Football Federation go to polls June 27th

The Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) will have a new president and executive committee on June 27th.

Fadhil Ramadhan Mberwa, the chairman of the election committee of ZFF says the election will take place on June 27th. “The polling station will be communicated,” added Mberwa.

Already the Deputy General Secretary of Premier League side Chuoni FC, Suleiman Shaban is among the members who have showed interest in becoming the next ZFF president.

Many other members are expected to show interest in the position of ZFF president. Omar Ahmed Awadh has been the acting president of ZFF since the resignation of Seif Kombo Pandu.

Pandu resigned on February 17th saying he did for the interest of Zanzibar Football. He had been ZFF president for only two years.

Currently Zanzibar only competes in tournaments organized by the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) where they are members. But teams from Zanzibar also compete in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

ZFF had been admitted as a full member of the CAF in March 2017 but lost membership four months later.
