CECAFA Kagame Cup: KMKM fight back to draw against Le Messager Ngozi
Zanzibar Premier League champions KMKM SC fought from a goal down to draw 1-1 against Le Messager Ngozi FC in a 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup match played this evening.
After some good passing Akbar Muderi gave the Burundian side the lead after 17 minutes at the Azam Complex, Chamazi.
Coach Ali Vua Shein’s team later settled and started attacking the Burundian Premier League champions. KMKM SC leveled matters through Mohamed Said Mohamed after 41 minutes.
The two teams returned in the second half and created several scoring chances, but to no avail.
“We played well, but failed to take our chances. We shall try to improve in the second match,” said KMKM SC head coach Muderi.
In an earlier match played today Uganda’s Express FC defeated Atlabara FC (South Sudan) 1-0. The opening match of the tournament played on Sunday saw Young Africans SC (Tanzania) settled for a 1-1 draw against guest side Nyasa Big Bullets FC.
KMKM SC will return to action against the defending champions KCCA FC (Uganda) on Thursday.
