KMKM SC defeat Azam to storm CECAFA Kagame Cup semis
KMKM Sports Club has qualified for the semi final stage at the on-going CECAFA Kagame Cup 2021 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The loss by KCCA FC (Uganda) to Le Messager Ngozi (Burundi) and KMKM SC’s 3-2 win in their last Group B match against Azam FC played on Saturday earned the Zanzibar team qualification to the knock out stage.
Azam FC took the lead through Iddy Kipangwile at the Azam Complex, Chamazi. But KMKM SC returned strongly in the second half to score through Salum Musa, Abdul Rahman Othman Ali and substitute Adam Ibrahim Abdallah. Paul Peter pulled one back for Azam FC.
“I thank my players for working hard to win this match against Azam,” said KMKM SC coach Ali Vuai Shein.
KMKM SC who finished the group stage with four points after registering a win, a draw and one loss will now face Express FC (Uganda) in the semi final on August 10th.
Express FC humbled Young Africans SC 3-1 in the last group A match played on Saturday.
The second semi final match will see Azam FC face guest side Nyasa Big Bullets from Malawi on August 11th. The final of the regional tournament sponsored by Azam TV and supported by Rwanda President Paul Kagame will take place on August 14th.
