Commercial Bank of Ethiopia defeat New Generations
Zanzibar’s New Generations FC yesterday suffered a heavy defeat to Commercial Bank of Ethiopia FC in the second Group B match on-going CECAFA Zonal qualifier of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Ethiopians won the match played at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi 10-1.
Captain for the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Geinore Loza scprec four goals, while Media Busser had three to her credit. Aregah Kalsa Tadesse, Emeber Adisu Asfaw and Hasabe Gila scored the other goals for the Ethiopian side.
New Generations’ lone goal was scored by Husna Mpanja after 18 minutes. The win means the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia became the first team to qualify for the semi finals after they also won their first match 4-2 against Kenya’s Vihiga Queens FC.
Ali Abdulmutik Haji, the New Generations FC coach said that his team lost to a very strong and and well coordinated side. “This tournament is giving us a lot of exposure and we are learning lot,” added the coach.
In the second Group B match played Vihiga Queens humbled South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars 11-0.
New Generations FC will face Vihiga Queens in their last Group B match on Friday. They lost the opening match 2-1 to Yei Joint Stars.
